Different places, different cultures, different appearances, different preferences and different expressions.
But are we really different?
As much as I traveled to different countries, I realized that except for these preferences, humans are no different from each other.
Their emotional responses are as same as their body parts.
* If I am born and live around a tropical area, it will be hard for me to adjust for very long to live in a place with no sea, different types of foods, and different ideas of entertainment.
* If I only lived around quiet and nature for many years, it would be hard for me to adjust to living around the hustle and bustle of a polluted and populated city, and even vice versa.
It is not really about who is superior or inferior, it is only about where you were born. But, is taking birth in your control anyway?
No, right?
It’s, apparently, in God’s hands.
Hence, if you’re an American, you’ve not really done anything great to call yourself that.
Similarly, if you’re an Asian, you can’t really be too proud either.
African, Portuguese, Brazilian, Mexican, Indian, etc.
Then what are we too proud of all the time?
Why are we even fighting and for what?
Humans are full of expressions.
They are made expressive but how they wish to express is completely their choice, and also, where they are raised.
…
Just the other day, I went to a Spice Plantation in Bali. There, I asked a woman assisting me to click a couple of pictures for me. She replied, “I have to bring the tea taster for the other client so I’ll do it afterward.”
Nothing strange or weird in the response, right?
No!
Her words were understandable, but her expressions? Well, they only showed agitation on her face.
At least, the way I have always seen, those expressions just mean that.
I felt rejected!
I almost gave up the idea of expecting her to come back, but, somewhere my mind and heart convinced me to be patient and stay still instead of accumulating anger in response to those expressions.
To my amazement, within a minute the woman came back and so excitedly and happily clicked not one but around forty-odd pictures. She kept asking me if it was good or not, so she would click again, and kept asking me to change the pose. Just like a professional photographer does.
Those expressions I noticed before, really felt full of agitation and rejection.
So, is it really that we are hurt by others, or, is it that we are hurt by our wounded parts?
When someone behaves in a way we are not used to (or we are used to it too much to begin getting agitated by it), or they say something that we feel is quite rejecting our souls, is it really the person rejecting us or are we just trying to run away from the wounds that the person inadvertently touched?
Why is our first reaction to weird behaviors/ expressions always ‘Anger’, ‘Rage’ or ‘Violence’?
Let me tell you!
It is because we all are wounded.
“No one in this world exists without wounds.”
And why are we wounded?
Because our culture is wounded. Our society is wounded.
Society is like a house. If it’s broken, can you really survive?
Your heart is meant to love, but can you really love people around you with a broken heart?
Ask yourself – Can you love a stranger?
We, humans, have become so alien to each other that instead of trying to take someone out of trouble, we try to capture those moments to show them to the world, or sometimes, just simply ignore.
And then we keep complaining, ‘I’m so unhappy, I’m not content’.
I mean, c’mon, how can you find peace after contradicting your real nature, which is love and kindness?
If you want to reach your peaceful state, first know and understand yourself.
From your body to your soul.
If you feed everything, you’ll be full.
Full of health, full of joy, full of peace.
If you’re behaving or doing anything that separates you from your essence, it will end up disturbing your flow state.
And you can never be happy and successful away from your flow state.
So,
Act full, be full, and do full to remain full.
And this is how you’ll get your wounds healed. And when you heal, no one’s words or reactions will create any disturbance in your mind.
You’re born happy, aren’t you?
A baby only cries for the needs of the body and that too because it can’t speak and convey.
Rest of the time, you will always find it giggling and having fun.
Well, that’s the real ‘you’!
And why aren’t you like that now? Because, as I mentioned earlier, you’re wounded!
Highly wounded!
And you should also never blame others for your wounds.
It is like-
- A blind inadvertently stepped his foot on yours.
- A deaf ended up shouting in your ears.
- A mute one did not answer you.
- A crippled did not pick up your speed.
Well,
- If a blind person stepped on your foot, would you react? I believe you MIGHT do that ONLY if your feet are deeply injured.
- If a deaf shout in your ears, then? You MIGHT but only in the heat of the moment and then you will surely want to apologize.
- If a mute didn’t answer you or a crippled did not pick up your speed, would you react? Probably when you‘re mentally unwell or tired I guess?
You see, your reactions are never for the people but for the wounds you got.
Also, you say you’re patriotic.
What is patriotism by the way?
You are a tiny, hardly visible piece of what’s seen and unseen around us, only living for about a few years in an infinite setting of the clock of time, and you believe being American, Asian, Indian, etc. is something you should be proud of?
I mean, carrying on with the drama of the world is important but not when you begin to move away from your essence. Being proud of whatever you have gotten is good, but not beyond the point when you begin to hate other expressions of God.
When that lady said she would come back, the expression she showed is not really perceived as a good one in my culture, but that might be the most loving expression in hers?
Didn’t she prove that when she came back and clicked many pictures on the contrary?
Let’s move beyond expressions, beyond cultures, beyond preferences, and, let’s move towards the way of the heart. Let’s try to understand different hearts and expressions of humans. And, if it is hurting in the process, believe that it is your wound and not the person really. Stand still like I did and wait and see, how that person will prove you wrong and help in healing your wounds that we all are here for.
How else would you attain your God if you won’t take out all the wounded parts and throw them away, throw all the layers of what you’re not?
Think about that!
